Anyone who knows me knows that I am a multi-tasker. I LOVE being busy and will often fill my “free time” with things to do. I put “free time” in quotations because I don’t know that I really have much of it to begin with. I work as Director of Operations here at Eco Chateau, as a life skills and leadership coach specializing in young adults and athletes and I coach soccer several days a week. Each of them has a special place in my heart so they don’t feel like work, but combined they take up most of my time.
I think the love of a busy schedule comes from being a “yes” person – I will almost always say yes to things because I love the ability to help others. It’s no surprise that each of the things listed above put me in a teaching and mentorship role with others – it’s what I love to do! However, the problem with always saying yes is that you tend to prioritize everyone else’s needs above your own.
I have always lived by the calendar on my phone (if it’s not on a list or in my calendar, it’s not going to happen!), but I would imagine that there are plenty of other tools that are useful to better plan my time and to make sure that I actually schedule time for myself.
What are your favorite tools? Planners? Wall calendars? How do you balance time for your priorities and yourself?
I love this quote, but it’s often easier said than done!
